Welcome one and all . . . 139 maps online

Thanks for coming and having a look at my Shadowdale 3 website. Use the icons on the navigation bar above to move around the site. If you've any suggestions or information for the site please mail me, The two most useful parts of the site are the maps and the list of items from in the game.

If you'd like to keep up to date with the state of Shadowdale or chat with some of the other players we have a mailing list. You can sign up on the mailing list home page. It's a low volume list but we post any updates about the status of the MUD on there. We also have a popular Facebook group. Feel free to 'like' us if you really want to.

I have been playing Shadowdale since 1993 with a number of characters. My main character is known as Stibbons and he seems to have survived everything... even death. During my stay I've met a lot of people and lots of friends. If you'd like to know what I'm up to at the moment check out my Shadowdale Diary (last changed on 16th January 2012).

  A little Shadowdale history

Shadowdale is a diku MUD running at play.sdmud.org 7777. If you'd like to know more about MUDs have check out the MUDs and MUDding FAQ. If you'd like to play Shadowdale then you can either use telnet or a MUD client and try to connect to the address above. You can check the current status of Shadowdale at their very own web site www.sdmud.org

Shadowdale has been around a long time. It moved to version 2 early in 1995 and in doing so moved to a newer machine running a much improved MUD server containing a much larger and more original world. Shadowdale moved to version 3 at the end of 1999 and the world changed substantially again, in order to try to make the MUD be more like the Forgotten RealmsTM universe on which it is based.

I've been running this web site for nearly 20 years and in all that time I've loved the interaction with the Shadowdale community. Its always been my hope that Shadowdale itself and my meagre efforts to chronicle some of the game would endure. We have Gandalf Parker to thank for maintaining the game for such a long time, may he rest in peace.
