The Mage's Academy

The Mage's Academy is aimed a newbies. The mobs range from low level Pseudodragons (75xp each) and Sophomore Mages (300xp) all the way up to the V.I.P. (45K xp)in the V.I.P. Suite (Vi). There is a DEATH TRAP in the zone. If you go down below Blackmouth's Pit of Despair (Bp) you will die.

Early on is a small maze. I mapped this by dropping coins in each room until I found no new rooms without coins! In the maze are two treasure rooms, both marked 'Tm' on the map. Prowling around the maze are a number of low-level creatures (Gelatenous cubes at around 1K xp each).

If you follow the stairs up you'll enter the Mage's College proper. You'll find a number of mages of various levels wander around. I didn't find any of the mages helping each other when I attacked one but they do loot corpses and wander off. There is also an Invisible servant walking around the Great Hall (hidden).

Above End of the Great Hall (Eg) is Blackmouth's Challenge (Bc) there is a sign on the wall "To wield my staff, brave Mage, face my avatar and know fear." If you go up into the room above I assume you used to have to face a creature but it looks like its been removed.

The last part of the zone is the Material Storage, above the Laboratory Stairs (Ls). The first room, the Conjuration Lab (Cl), contains a left over fire elemental. There are a number of other critters in the various cells but the toughest was a Cockatrice worth about 7K xp. There are even some Extra-Planar Holding Cells (Ep) that are supposed to hold dragons, but the dragons have longs since escaped.
